When most of us use the word ‘diet’ it is usually a
misnomer – because according to the Oxford English Dictionary the actual
meaning of the word is The kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habilutally eat
Not our usual meaning of a restriction of food in
order to lose or change weight
For me personally the idea of this ‘restriction’ gives
the word ‘diet’ a negative connotation.
In coaching my preference would be ‘food management’
if it was / is part of a health and wellness plan and ‘eating for performance’
if it was/ is part of a sporting performance enhancement plan
Either way for a lot of us the world around food can be quite
confusing and challenging. I recently received this email from Dr John Berardi, PhD CSCS [Precision Nutrition] – the idea was a handy visual guide may be useful with regard to eating and exercise.
